One group that has definitely paid their fair share of dues is the Southern California based quintet IN THIS MOMENT who, through hard work, resiliency and an undying worldwide touring schedule have propelled themselves to the top of the heap of the metal pantheon. They have now returned with their most dynamic and focused offering, which quickly proves that this unit has greatly matured well beyond their years.

IN THIS MOMENT spent the early part of 2010 at The Wolv e’s Den studio once again with acclaimed producer Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch) recording A Star-Crossed Wasteland, an album hailed by Alternative Press as “One of The Most Anticipated Releases of 2010.”

The group are extremely excited to be performing on this summer’s much anticipated Rockstar Mayhem Tour playing on the Mayhem Festival Stage alongside Korn, Rob Zombie and Atreyu. This tour will mark the start of the group’s official, massive worldwide touring cycle.

Chris Howorth (guitars) further states: “The writing process for A Star-Crossed Wasteland was different than on our previous records. This time we had more of a plan and we knew we wanted to write darker heavier songs while still keeping our melodic side. We started working on new music last August right after Warped Tour ended and wrote continuously for five months to get as many song ideas on tape as possible. We ended up with about 15 demo songs. Onc e we got into the studio with Kevin we dissected everything again to make sure everyone was happy with the arrangements and then started tracking.

“For us, using Kevin Churko was a no brainer, we had such a great experience making The Dream that we didn't even consider using anyone else. I've said it before and I will say it again, Kevin is the man. He is like the Gandolf the Grey or Yoda of producing. He has so much knowledge and is so creative musically we feel like magic happens when we work together.

“I am extremely happy with the end result. We made a record that shows who we are and what we are really about. We feel like it's our defining statement. We really put a lot of effort into making sure the guitars were massive and the drums were slamming while still retaining the depth and melodic layers in the songs. Vocally and lyrically Maria was very emotional and coming from a darker place than on previous albums, and she really poured her heart out and as usual you can tell that it’s 100% genuine.”

One always hears the same old adage growing up: “believe in your dreams, because dreams really do come true.” Well, this statement perfectly defines the life of IN THIS MOMENT’s frontwoman, Maria Brink, who always believed that she would become a rock star, and overcome all of the obstacles that stood in her way while having to escape an overall non-positive environment.

Brink, an Albany, NY native, refused to let any of this deter her from achieving her lifelong goal and soon embarked for Los Angeles to begin her musical career. After a number of odd jobs and failed creative partnerships her life soon took a sudden turn upon meeting guitarist Chris Howorth in 2005, as the two immediately realized that they had something special together. This union would soon be rounded out by Jeff Fabb (drums), Blake Bunzel (guitars) and Jesse Landry (bass) to form IN THIS MOMENT, who just three years later performed to a sold-out crowd at the renowned Madison Square Garden opening for Ozzy Osbourne, ultimately proving dreams do come t rue.

Their invigorating mixture of metal and hard rock quickly caught the attention of metal and hard rock fans alike. The diversity and depth was refreshing and simply undeniable. In 2010, they continue to carve out their own unique and exhilarating chapter in the hard rock genre, laying the foundation for an extremely bright future. Original bassist Jesse Landry left the band after Warped Tour in 2009 to pursue non music related endeavors but Kyle Konkiel quickly joined the fold and instantly became a perfect fit. This group is collectively defined by their undying belief in themselves and this confidence and strength is conveyed perfectly through their new material.

For IN THIS MOMENT, the dream was always to become a worldwide phenomenon and that is something that will never fade, especially with this new effort. If you haven’t heard of IN THIS MOMENT, it won’t be long until you do because this band is at the brink of greatness.

Straight Line Stitch

Armed with an unstoppable work ethic and a musical vocabulary that stretches from face-ripping metal to soulful, stratospheric rock, Knoxville, TN, quintet STRAIGHT LINE STITCH are poised to grab heavy music by the horns with their Raging Nation/KOCH Records debut, When Skies Wash Ashore. Though just 11 tracks in length, the album packs more dynamics and diversity than many bands' entire catalogs. Not surprising, then, that the five individuals that make up STRAIGHT LINE STITCH have spent a lifetime honing their craft to reach this point.

Technically speaking, the STRAIGHT LINE STITCH story begins nine years , a handful of lineup changes, and two early releases (a demo EP and album, to be exact) ago. However, to understand the force that is STRAIGHT LINE STITCH today, simply fast-forward to 2003, when vocalist Alexis Brown joined the band. Though without formal training (recent screaming lessons from vocal coach Melissa Cross aside), Brown completed SLS' sound with a multi-octave, multifaceted approach that could be snarling and guttural one moment, angelic and ethereal the next. Making her recorded debut on SLS' second full-length, 2006's self-released To Be Godlike, Brown defied gender and genre alike to emerge as one of the most promising vocalists, period, in modern heavy music.

Despite being followed by a few final lineup shifts, To Be Godlike cemented SLS' core sound and generated a key partnership between the band and Raging Nation Films' Dale "Rage" Resteghini. The award-winning director -- whose credits include Fall Out Boy, Hatebreed, Mudvayne, Shadows Fall and hundreds of other acts -- helmed the striking 35mm clip for the ' 07 The Word Made Flesh's "Remission," and in 2007, he made SLS the inaugural signing to his newly created KOCH imprint, Raging Nation Records. As When Skies Wash Ashore proves, STRAIGHT LINE STITCH have risen to new heights for their label debut.

Recording When Skies Wash Ashore in the remote village of Millbrook, NY, SLS pushed themselves to the proverbial limit, even as cramped living quarters, geographical isolation, and physically demanding sessions (from Brown's strained vocal cords to her bandmates' strained limbs, the members rose to the challenge) took their toll. "Unless you're really wealthy, there's not a whole lot to do in Millbrook," Thacker says of the longtime celebrity-attracting village, "so we literally ate, slept and breathed this record while we were there. It was the most intense session we ever did, but I feel like we became that much stronger because of it."

Whether it's in the crushingly brutal metalcore of the official lead tr ack, the neck-snapping thrash "Black Veil" with it's incredibly power ful video or the next video track "Taste Of Ashes" (featuring a screaming duet between Brown and SLS fan/Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta), the epic, soaring rock of "Eucharist," STRAIGHT LINE STITCH's musical strength is undeniable. For every double-bass-pedal assault, death-metal-inspired guitar riff or finger-bending bass line (see the hyperactive "Adult Cinema"), there's an equally strong hook, texture or atmosphere. And whether she's shredding her throat on a verse or hitting a soulful melody at the chorus, Brown keeps SLS' songs grounded in enough raw emotion to cause goose bumps in even the most jaded listener. "My songs come from a really personal place," says Brown, who's as likely to draw inspiration from spirituality as she is from classic horror movies. "I'm pretty soft-spoken in real life, so this is the one outlet I have to let out everything I'm feeling."

Of course, SLS' studio performance is just half the story: Averaging some 200 shows per year sinc e 2003, the band have shared stages with national heavyweights such as Slayer, Anthrax, Staind, Mastodon, Chevelle, Killswitch Engage and 3 Inches Of Blood, in addition to rocking the Atlanta stop of the 2005 Vans Warped Tour and multiple Jägermeister Music Tour dates (Jägermeister is a proud SLS sponsor). More recently, a run of shows supporting DevilDriver, Napalm Death and 36 Crazyfists on the 2008 "Bound By The Road" Tour found SLS winning over some of their biggest nightly audiences ever, while subsequent Headlining club dates with the Autumn Offering and the Destro saw them diving back into the underground where they cut their teeth.

No matter what size the stage, though, STRAIGHT LINE STITCH have the presence and drive to make it theirs -- and, as When Skies Wash Ashore makes punishingly clear, they also have the musical muscle to win over any audience within earshot. "When you get down to it, we're a really personal band," concludes Thacker, "and as far as I'm concerned, that should be the same whether you're watching us in front of 5,000 people or coming up to talk to us after a show. In the end, that one-on-one connection is all that matters."

Shark Diving Trip and Other Great Prizes Up for Grabs to Promote Luke Tipple Appearance on MythBusters

Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) July 25, 2008

Luke Tipple, Marine Biologist and Adventurer, is the subject of a unique promotion run by his sponsors Shark Diver, Ocean Reef and Bathys Hawaii.

The promotion, set to run throughout the Discovery Network's Shark Week in 2008, gives the lucky winners a chance to dive with Great White Sharks. The promotion requires you to watch the Mythbusters Special then log onto Luke Tipple's website to answer two questions about the show. Up for grabs is a five day Great White Shark diving adventure, an Ocean Reef full face dive mask and a Bathys Hawaii watch, around US$ 5000 in total.

Australian Luke Tipple arrived in the States in 2005 while pursuing his career researching and working with predatory sharks. He'd just completed a successful pilot study in Utila Honduras where he created ecotourism guidelines to protect the visiting Whale Sharks. Since then he's become a sought after safety consultant and educational personality in the wildlife film and television production industry.

This year Luke was recruited as the dive safety officer and shark behavior specialist on Discovery Shark Week's premier show Mythbusters. "From day one they were fantastic. Adam and Jamie are really easy to work with; they know what they want but are prepared to listen to advice. The rest of the crew were a solid team with a fantastic work ethic. It was a privilege to be part of this production." said Luke.

"We've watched Luke for the last few years and have always known he was bound for something big" says Patric Douglas, CEO of SharkDiver.com. "Whether he's running the deck of a boat or protecting our divers from Tiger sharks he's always in control and someone we trust integrally. Supporting him as he moves into television is just as exciting for us as it is for him and we can't wait to see what he has for us in the future."

Mythbusters airs on the Discovery Channel during Shark Week, July 27 through August 2nd.
